  Workforce

Carlton County has a skilled available workforce and close proximity to an extensive labor pool and multiple higher educational institutions in the nearby Twin Ports of Duluth, Minn., and Superior, Wis.

Within the county's borders, you'll find the only combined tribal and community college in the United States. Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College offers degrees in business, technology, law enforcement and other areas. Specialized programs in computer security and geographic information systems make graduates particularly valuable in today's market.

Many residents offer skills in forest products and related industries. Competitive labor costs, low turnover, cooperative labor/management relations, and a strong work ethic characterize the county's workforce climate.
