Keewatin (2008 pop. est. 1,070) is five miles west of Hibbing on Minnesota's Iron Range. It is home to one of the state's largest taconite mining operations, U.S. Steel's Keewatin Taconite plant, which has a major impact on the regional economy. The city's location along the four-lane U.S. Highway 169 offers opportunities for development on a large amount of available land, including tax-free JOBZ properties. Community leaders are proactive in attracting business and work with economic development partners to provide incentives for new and expanding companies. |
